Corrupt file problem

I have a problem on Windows 2003 server. I can see a folder full of
files but some of them have no owner associated with them (if you add
the 'owner' column to the view). If I right click on any of them, I
get the 'Send To' and 'Open' dialogue - nothing else, therefore I
canot check the properties!! I cannot open or 'send to' or copy (by
selecting all files). DOS copying using *.* just leaves the corrupt
files where they are and just copies the good ones. I want to avoid
the mass of freeware type sites and am hoping for a serious command
driven utility that may be able to help. So far, the only option I
have thought about is chkdsk /r. Any ideas?

What do you hope to do with the corrupt files? Are they system files or
data files?

Do you know how they became corrupt? Perhaps there are faults in your
hardware - HDD/Controller/PSU etc.

We have restored from tape to a different server and although the
'properties' option is visible, the file does nothing therefore it is
not hardware. The files are CAD files and are required by the customer.

What does the supplier of the backup program have to say?
