Hi,

My laptop crashed and I got the message that windows cannot start due to a
corruption of the config file. Usually, this is no problem. However I am
visiting my parents and will be here until after xmas and my xp CD is at home
(I live in the UK and my parents live in Toronto). So I cannot use its
recovery console.

Short of asking my girlfriend to post my CD to me, what are my options? This
is extremely inconvenient as time is of essence. She has to mail the CD from
the UK to Canada and I dont even know if there will be delays at customs. I
am working on my dissertation and was running a simulation in visual studio C
express when the crash occurred.

I am also considering bringing my laptop into Future Shop where I had
originally purchased my laptop. Even though I have all my data on a separate
partition, there are two complications. I do not wish to leave my laptop with
them for days or weeks. Moreover, this still means that I have to download VS
again and reinstall it.

Any advice would be welcome.

Ron
