Corrupt APCI.sys installing WIN XP

I am trying to install Windows XP on a friends computer following a
hard drive crash (complete crash, HDD toast...no longed even
spins...at boot gave a critical HDD failure error message(or close to
that, can't remember the exact error message, but I tried the HDD in
my PC and it wasn't even detected in the BIOS...could this be a BIOS
virus???)

Anyway, on to the real problem....

The install is on a new 80Gig Westen Digital HDD, motherboard is DFI
PA61, BIOS version SV84510A.86A.0008.P04

The new HDD is detected in the BIOS.

When I try to install it, I keep getting error:

"The file APCI.sys is corrupt, please hit any key to continue."

I don't think it is a 32Gig barrier problem, because his old 40Gig did
show the full space when I checked it.

I haven't flashed the BIOS yet, because I am looking to see if it culd
be anyting but that.

Any have any suggestions?

Thx
