Hello,

ICS works. But...

Small home network, both machings running Win2K Pro. Relevant users exist on
both machines.

(1) The client always dials it's own modem initially. (It has one for
connection when the host is shut down.) Connect is set to "dial whenever a
network connection is not available". I can fix this by connecting to the
host first using Network Neighborhood or Explorer, then initiating a browser
session.

(2) The connection always times out from the client before the host can dial
and connect. I've fiddled with some registry entries:

NameSrvQueryTimeout
NameSrvQueryCount
BcastQueryTimeout
BcastQueryCount

(In HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NetBT|Parameters). After
Googling, it's not clear if this stuff even pertains to Win2K. I know that a
similar fix was supposed to work for Win98 clients, and I could never
implement it.

"Refresh" from the client will connect OK after the host modem has
connected.

Can I run a batch file or something that will automate the steps taken
manually in (1) and (2)? I'm trying to keep things simple for family members
using ICS.

John
