Hello, Can someone tell me what would happen if i deleted a gpo policy

Will it eventaully restore all the changed settings on clients machines back to there default before we used the policy to disable certain things or will the changes stick in the clients and i will have to create another one disabling or reversing the settings that i choose on the one that i deleted

thank

GPOs won't go back to the default, but the settings might be removed from
the Registry from the GPO that was deleted. If the setting is not configured
in another GPO or from the local gpo, the setting will go to a default
setting, or might remain the same until you change it again.

Im sorry that is confussing to me.

So what your saying is that if i delete a gpo the settings on the client may even still stick even that the GPO is gone. And the only way is to either create another GPO that tells the setting to be enabled if it was disabled in a former GP

I thought the idea of 2000 policy was that it didnt "tatoo" the registry and once removed any changes to the client with the gpo would be undone

You have it perfect!

There are only "some" of the settings that don't tattoo! all of the
Administrative Templates settings don't tattoo. However, almost EVERY
security setting tattoos!
