One of my friends has the same hardware configuration and his 6400 CPU
appears as two CPUs on the task manager. Mine appears as a single CPU. I have
the latest BIOS. I have the hyperthreading enabled in the BIOS. Any ideas?

Hello,

maybe it's a stupid thought, but is Task Manager -> Performance -> Menu
"View" -> "CPU History" -> "One graph, All CPUs" checked?

Greetings,

Yes, unfortunately I did check that... But it is at "one graph per cpu" :-(

Go to Start>Run and enter msinfo32. Under System summary
you should see two identical processors listed. If only one is
listed, is your M/B and BIOS Core2 Duo ready?

One other thing to check, though unlikely, is to run msconfig>
BOOT.INI>Advanced Options, and make sure the
NUMPROC= box is not ticked.

Hi Ian,
thank you for the tips. It looks as two identical processors in the system
info data. However, BOOT.INI tab isn't there in the msconfig. I have an Intel
975BX board and the latest BIOS installed. I am the admin of the machine.
This is the first time that I don't see the BOOT.INI tab there.
