When will the Core 2 Series of processors be replaced?

Hi!

I was wondering when the core 2 series of processors e.g. extreme, quad etc. Will be replaced i.e. Like core 2 replaced pentium D

Probably be around for a few years yet.........but there may be an octo-core out perhaps within a year?

Nehalem will be out Q3 of this year, but will be uber expensive to start.

A variation on Core2, but new CPU and mobo mandatory.

Unless your Crunching or doing CAD most users will not get the benefit from Dual or Quad CPU's.
