Cordless, Optical Mouse Sensitivity Problem

I have a Logitech MX700 cordless, optical mouse and Windows XP Home.
The problem is that it is losing mouse sensitivity settings randomly.
This applies to open windows explorer windows such as when browsing
the hard drive or in the control panel. In Firefox the sensitivity is
normal, but if I restore a windows folder the sensitivity drops to
default. I tried updating the drivers but that didn't seem to work.
If I reboot the computer the problem goes away for awhile. I have
scanned for spyware/viruses but haven't found anything.

Any tips or ideas?

Thank you in advance.
