Cordless mouse Vista Home Premium (again)

I posted this a few days ago, and none of the suggestions worked:

"Periodically my Logitech optical cordless mouse seems to stop working. The
red light is on underneath as usual, the batteries are fine, but the pointer
just freezes and I have to reboot to get it to work again.

My (corded) keyboard is always ok.

If it matters, the little transmitter box for the mouse is USB.

I never had this problem in XP Home, using the same mouse.

Dunno if it's related, but I sometimes have the same problem with my
Microsoft Media Center remote.

Thanks"

I've since discovered the mouse is only not working at the Vista log on
screen - if I use the keyboard to log on, once I'm at my desktop, the mouse
works fine again.

Help!

I have found that if I do not use the mouse for more than 5 minutes it
goes to sleep. I have to press the button on the receiver and then use a
pen to poke the button on the bottom of the mouse.

Didn't I suggest this yesterday? If the mouse is going to sleep, it is
because the USB ports are going to sleep.

Pressing the button on the receiver or under the mouse doesn't work. I have
to log on using the keyboard (my keyboard ISN'T wireless by the way), then
the mouse automatically works as soon my desktop comes back up.

Arrghh!

How do you disable the driver component firewall.
