Hi,

I have Windows XP Pro. I would like to periodically copy to an external hard
drive the items I have saved on my Taskbar (Quick Launch). How do I do this?
Thank you.

"Items"? You mean the shortcuts that are in your Quick Launch toolbar?
These shortcuts are in the Quick Launch folder.

C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Quick Launch

You can open it quickly by

- right-click on an empty area of the Quick Launch area
- uncheck "Lock the Taskbar"
- right-click the same place and choose "Open Folder"
- re-lock the taskbar when you're done

I had never thought about "All Users" for the Quick Launch tool bar, but
you're correct, there is such a directory.

However, it doesn't seem to work the same way as the "Start Menu"
folders (which merge the contents of the <user> and All User "Start
Menu" folders) for display when you click Start > All Programs

At least, on my XP box, although there is a shortcut in ...\All
Users\...\Quick Launch, it doesn't show up on any actual Quick Launch
tool bar that I can find.

You are right Lem! I have Ad-Aware SE in the "All" one (which I don't
use anymore). And it isn't currently showing under my user account. It
might show under different shells (desktops) like Aston1 and Aston2.
Which I often run as well, but not at the moment.

You've already gotten "how-to" answers, but let me add the following:

What's on the Quick Launch Bar is nothing but shortcuts. They are
*tiny* if you want to copy them. Moreover, if you should lose them
without having copied them, recreating them is *extremely* easy.

So as far as I'm concerned, you don't need copies of these. All you
really need is remembering what shortcuts you have there. If you can't
remember by yourself, I would just write down the names of the
programs they are shortcuts to.

Are they sometimes disappearing?

If they are, copying them and replacing does not fix your problem.

But now you know where things are if that is your desire.
