Copying OS to new hard disk

I have a 40gb drive with Win98/Win200 dual boot on separate partitions C &
D.

I installed an 80gb drive and used Partition Magic 7 to copy it to the new
drive.

It seemed to go ok eventually, but when I booted to win2000 I just got a
blank desktop and a cursor. Ntrl-alt-del did nothing, but eventually I got
the login screen again. Clicking ok quickly flashed up about personal
settings, and then returned to the login screen again. Shutting down was the
only option that worked.

Any ideas what the problem is? Only the new drive was installed, so it
wasn't conflicting with the old one.

Thanks.
