There does not seem to be a command that makes a copy of the body and text of
a message that can then be pasted using the paste command.

Is there a simple way to make a copy of both text and body of a message in
Outlook? I am happy with just the characters. I do not need rich formatting

TIA/gary

Not a command, but there are menu choices.

What is the difference between "body" and "text of a message"?

So what happens when you highlight some text from the body of the
message (or hit Ctrl+A) and then right-click to copy and later try to
paste what you copied into the Windows clipboard?

"Text" and "body" are the same thing.

Copy-n-paste of what is rendered in the body of the message does work.
So does using View -> Options to copy-n-paste the headers. So does
right-clicking in the body of an HTML message to select View Source to
then copy-n-paste the raw source of the HTML-formatted e-mail.

You can also use the PocketKnife Peek and/or SpamGrabber plug-ins to
give you quicker access to the headers and message source.

http://www.olspamcop.org/ plugin has a feature that copies the entire
message (headers & body source) with one single click.
