I have an older color laser printer (Minolta_QMS 2210) I'd like to continue
to use. I had it installed under XP Home on my old computer. I cannot get it
to print after installing to my new computer with XP Pro.
I had trouble getting it installed before and thought I'd written out good
instructions to myself but they're not working. I did have assistance from
the Minolta tech support on the earlier install. It is too old now to
receive any support from them. This old monster of a printer has about 5000
pages of toner left and I'd like to get it to work, if possible.
Can I copy the driver directory from my old computer over to my new computer
and see if the drivers will allow it to work properly? Would this foul up my
new system? All the hardware installed on both systems is the same. Maybe
rename the new drivers directory, then copy the old drivers directory over
and fire it up and see if the printer will work? Probably won't but is it
worth a try?
I can get the printer installed to the point that windows xp pro sees it and
shows it installed in the list of printers. The printer just won't print
anything. The original drivers were for ME, if I remember. Then Minolta
released new drivers for XP, which were dated about 2004. These xp driver
files are the ones I'm using, as the printer has been discontinued for some
time.
Any advice or suggestions will be appreciated.
