Media player does not appear to support copying disks. I used Nero in XP, is
this compatible with Vista? Any recommendations?

Yes Nero 7.7.5.1 is compatible with Windows Vista - just update to this or
later version

There is a Vista compatible version of Nero 7 available. For holders of
version 7 it's a free update, ver 7.5.7.0 (file: 7.5.7.0_eng.exe). So far
it's worked with no problems and I've used it rather extensively in the last
week or so. Copying CDs, producing audio files and converting sound tracks
to MP3 format, etc.

NO, it is not compatable with Vista. Seven clean up tools and downloads
later Nero 7.7.5.1 Reloaded still does not work.

Thanks. I was worried because it works fine for me. I'll delete it
right away.

Being a smart ass is not helpful. I want to use my Nero with Vista. I have
used Nero's clean up tool and downloaded Nero7.7.5.1 Reloaded about 6 times.
My file is still only 144 mb and says it does not have all the components and
to try the download again. If anyone had helpful information, I would
appreciate learning how to make Nero work.

Because of how applications like Nero and its biggest rival Easy
Creator work they can be difficult to remove old versions totally.
About the only choice is to manuall check the Registry for any
remaining Nero entires and remove them. If you go with this approach
be sure to make a full backup of the Registry FIRST just in case you
mess something up.

There are many Registry clean up tools. The problem for now is few if
any really work with Vista. I downloaded a trail of 'Clean My PC'
which seems to, but I haven't decided to buy or not yet so it only
shows what it thinks is wrong as far as clutter in my Registry.

It like similar products will scan your system for free and at least
you can see if it finds any orphanded entries for Nero which you can
then CAREFULLY edit from your Registry manually. Short of doing that,
you're stuck until you can get past whatever is hanging the new
version and preventing it from installing correctly.

The latest version of Nero is 7.7.5.1. 32-bit version features a copy gadget
which makes disc copying very easy!

Optical media? I'm a big fan of ImgBurn myself (and it's freeware too!)

Insert something clever here.
