I understand that CP prevents the ripped album(song) from being played
on another computer w/o the license.

Will enabling CP have any effect on tracks I tranfer to portable
devices, or CD-R's played on portable devices (I assume that tracks recorded
with CP and transfered to CD-R won't work on an unlicensed computer.)

This is my only reservation about activating CP.

Thank You for your help,

------------------Richard

Yes it will. If you player does not support DRM-enabled WMA files, they
will not transfer. There is little reason that you need to enable Copy
Protection (DRM) on files you rip yourself to your hard drive.

>Chris...I have WMP ver 9 and each time I rip a cd to my h

hard drive it eventually wont play...today I ripped a
fairly new cd to the hard drive, and it wont play. I've
previously "licensed" this cd. How can I work around this
issue? I have CP disabled as well as "Acquire Lic.
auto". But still am unable to play tracks I rip from a cd
to my hd.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Chris,

Thank You for your reply.

I usually encode my CD's to WMA then burn them to a CD-R to play on a
Rio Volt player. One of the reasons I originally posted my message was,
when converting the "Sweeney Todd, Original Cast Recording" and No Doubt's
"Tragic Kingdom" several of the tracks were mistitled (the titles had been
shuffled.) While tiresome to repair, it was not to hard to do. But , it
seems to me that the audio quality on these tracks is not as good, when
compared to the CD, as other music that I've converted.

Would CP correct this problem, and would the songs be playable on my Rio
Volt?

Thank You,

-------------Richard
