I have seen a number of posts concerning the subject, but have not seen a
definitive soultion. Perhaps someone can answer the question with the
details of my situation.

Our organization is nixing our Novell network in favor of Windows using
Acitve Directory and Exchange. They have decided NOT to migrate user's
mailboxes because there just doesn't seem to be a solution that works as well
as they would like. This is not going to change, so migration is out of the
question and each individual has been informed that they will ahve to print
any e-mails ont eh GroupWise system they want to keep.

Now enter my theory:

Since our Exchange system is not live yet, I wanted to try a few things to
get my messages in a format that will be useable by Outlook. My plan was to
use Outlook 2000 and configure a profile to access out existing GW server,
which works just fine. Then add a Personal folders Data file to the same
profile and simply move messages I want to keep from the GW message store to
the Personal Folder and copy the resulting pst file to a CD and import the
messages once the Exchange server goes live.

In theory, this should work...and it has to some extent.

At first this worked OK, though I could only move one message at a time
because Outlook would crash if I tried to move more than one message. Slow
but working, nonetheless. This machine was re-imaged and I reinstalled
Outlook 2000 on the machine but sure enough, now I cannot even move one
message without Crashing Outlook. Outlook crashes regardless of how I try to
move messages to a PST, whether Move, Copy, Export or Archive.

Unfortunately, IMAP or POP3 are not options, as out organization does nto
hav ethese enabled ont eh GW server and since I am doing something they
really don't want me to do anyway, they will not enable it...I am stuck using
what resources I have available.

Any ideas whey Outlook is crashing like this? Any other suggestions to
simply create a backup of my GW message store that can be imported into
Outlook later?

Thanks,

RED

I can tell you that the .dll that is in error (gwmsp132.dll) is related to
Group Wise, and has something to do with the message store. Have you tried
reinstalling the GW Plug In for Outlook? You have to make sure that Group
Wise is not running in the background so close it and close Notify. Run the
Plug In setup.exe. If this doesn't solve the problem, restart the PC to make
sure that Group Wise and the MAPI spooler aren't loaded and re-run the Plug
In setup.exe.
Let me know if that helps.

Dragging email into personal folders should be relatively easy. Have you
checked your application event viewer?

I kind of figured it was actually a GW dll that was causing the problem. I
have reinstalled GW but the problem remains.
Also, I have not been able to move items to the PST file yet, so I am not
trying to read from teh CD, it has not been created yet, I am trying to move
messages to the .pst from the broupwise message store at this point...then I
will make the CD.

Notiffy.exe was not installed, so that isnt an issue. I am goin go try to
remove GW and reinstall it and see what happens.

Thanks for the input.
