copy to every second line

how do I copy to every other line at once in a column( not by holding down
ctrl and clicking on every other cell)

Select the cell(s) and the empty cells below, then drag the box down
by the bottom right corner. If you select two rows, then it will drag/
copy two at a time.

how do i stop it from increasing the number?

Two possible solutions...
1. Hold down the Ctrl key while dragging to keep from incrementing.
2. Hold down the right mouse button (instead of the left) while dragging.
When you release the button you will be shown a list of choices. Select
Copy...

Select the data cell and a blank cell below.

Right-click and drag then release button and "Copy Cells"
