we have a "global contact list" that comes from our exchange server, and i
have my own personal contact list "Contacts", and a second list of contact
"exchange contacts"

when i select a contact from the global contact list, i right click and
select "add to contacts" and the contact is added to my "Contacts" list by
default (there are a lot of contacts.) Is there an easy way to copy the
contacts from Exchange's Global Address List to my "exchange contacts"?

thanks

jat

Why would you want to do that and duplicate the data to which you already
have access?

using Outlook with RPC, it takes up to two minutes sometimes to get the
contact information into the To field. even if the contact name comes up
automatically, i cannot do anything until the name has been resolved(?) in
the To field, then after i hit the send button it still takes up to one
minute to actaully get the email into the outbox to send.

there are no issues like this when i am at the office, but when working from
home, even using the VPN sometimes has lags.

some of my contacts are in the personal Contacts folder, and those email
names are resolved and sent quicker than those through the Global Address
List.

Do you not have the Offline Address Book enabled?

yes, i have that enabled. i have started to copy the contacts into another
personal folder, but i'm looking for that short cut... as the server changes,
i can just delete my second folder and just import it again for the out of
office emails. one night a week i have a lot of emails from home that is a
time killer.

Then the GAL should be available even when you're offline. It is for me.
