In 2007 ABC123 is a cell reference.
Are you sure you don't have an INDIRECT in your formula?

The result is either 0 or the formula string "='Sheet1'!A1". This should be so simple. I've been using Excel for decades and have never had this problem. What am I doing wrong?! Thanks in advance for your help.
