Hi, I made some changes to my web while live. Now I want to copy that page on
to my web thats on my hard drive. So I tried to publish the web to my
original web on c: I got some warnings about c:/ being case sensitive so I
changed those files. It started to publish....then it said it was publishing
a file named "html.tar.gz" I had no idea what that was so I cancelled the
process. All I want to do is copy the page I worked on back to my original
web. Can I simply drag the file and drop it on to the original page? I didn't
want to try that until I asked this group, so thanks in advance...
What is the safest way to copy a live page and put it back in my original web?
Catt

Either select and publish the individual page or do copy and paste, do not do a drag and drop.

I opened up the live web/chose the page in nav view/highlighted the title and
chose publish selected files. I then browsed to my c:/myweb and let it
publish. It brought all the text/tables and structure in but not the
pictures, instead I have picture blocks with x's in them. There are about 25
pictures involved so I'd like to do it the easiest way. Do I have to transfer
all pictures by choosing the pics that are on that page from the live web or
did I do something wrong in the original pick and transfer?
Thank you

When you use the Publish Select Files command, it will only publish the specific file(s) you have
selected, no images, themes, shared borders, navigation, etc. will be published.

The only way to be sure to get any images or other external files, etc. associated with a page, is
to use the File Menu | Publish Site / Web command and select the Publish Change Pages only

If you switch to Folder List View, and then do a copy and paste of the page to your local copy of
the web, then you can switch to the folder with your images and then select all of the appropriate
image, then right click and select copy, then you can paste them in the same folder in your local
copy.
