A friend told me that when she replies to an incoming email a copy does not
appear in her sent list
How can this be rectified?

Are you going to tell us what email program she is using, or are we
supposed to guess?

Is she even using an email program, or is she using some web mail online
in her browser? If that's the case, it would be somewhere in the
settings of whatever web mail she's using.

Could you be any more vague? If you're going to do her work for her,
you're going to have to do better than tha.

How to ask a question:

Have her open Outlook Express, then click the Tools menu> Options, then
click the "Send" tab.
On the Send tab, put a check in the box for "Save copy of sent messages
in the 'Sent Items' folder"
Click OK.

If there was already a check in that box, have her remove the check and
click OK, then go back and add the check and click OK.

If that does not work, post back for more.

If that does not fix it, try this:
Inside Outlook Express - Frequently Asked "Why..." Questions: Why is OE
not saving copies of Sent Items?
http://www.insideoe.com/faqs/why.htm#nosaved

<quote>

"That can happen if the Sent Items folder is damaged. Move all messages
you might want to keep out of the Sent Items folder and into another
mail folder you create. Close OE, then delete the file Sent Items.dbx in
your Identity's store folder. OE will create a new one when you re-open
OE.

"In order to avoid this problem, it is best to move messages out of Sent
Items and into another folder you create whenever the number of messages
is over 1,000 or so. Note that a very large Sent Items folder can also
make OE sluggish whenever you send mail."
