Try using Insert--> Slides--> From File. It is easier to insert the slides
and the default is to absorb the formatting of the file the slides are going
into. Another option is to re-apply the slide layout to the slides which
should re-set them back to the formatting defined in the master.
If neither of these options will work, post back with your PPT version and
we can see what else we can come up with.
