I was hoping to use VueScan with my new Nikon Coolscan V ED (LS50)
film-scanner.
Most of my images are transparency filmstrips that have never seen 'the
light of day'.
I have spent all day trying to batch-scan six images (or even any single
image) and it is impossible to get more than one of the images centred in
the preview area.
The remaining ones are cropped left or right.
The preview area is very 'tight' .
Even though you can set an initial offset and frame-spacing this is not
consistent enough.
When you exit VueScan, the film remains in the scanner instead of being
ejected (which is my chosen option).
As far as I can tell, it is unusable so I will have to rely on the Nikon
Scan software which does not have this problem.

Has anyone got consistent results scanning filmstrips ?

I use VueScan with the LS50 and usually have no location problem.
Occasionally it mispositions the end frame if that goes very close to
the end of the strip. I have never scanned strips of positives,
however, only negatives.

One solution to your problem could be to buy an FH-3 film holder. It
is not expensive and allows you to position the film frame manually
and insert the holder in the slide adapter. I have used it
successfully on the end frames that VueScan found problematic.
