If you can't find the thermal pads use a good quality heat sink compound.

Radio Shack [usa] compound seems to work OK. Costs like 3 bucks.

The OP is probably worried about voiding his warranty on the chip.

AMD recently (well sometime last year) changed their warranty. Using
anything other than the thermal pad that comes with the chip voids the
warranty on it.
