I installed a used power supply into my compaq ez2200
machine because the fan to cool wouldn't stay running and
would shutdown the computer when it got hot. well guess
what it still won't run with the used power supply and
shutdown. so i think there's anoth problem any suggestion
people.

Did you try replacing the fan. After all if it stops working the CPU
overheats and safety measures on the motherboard force a shutdown...hard and
dirty.
