Here is a real head scratcher, and I've been trying to figure this out for about 3 days now
I am currently developing my own website as a little side project for myself. Not being of the most importance in my life I became busy with other things, and didn't visit the site for about 3-4 days. When I went back and tried to log into my admin panel and/or my forums (both running on a .php platform, php-nuke) I could login to the first screen correctly. HOWEVER, whenever I click a link, be it a new category on the forums, or a new section on the admin panel, it takes me back to the user login screen. (thus making it seem the cookie is not setting properly). This isn't only for my site though, so I know its not a scripting problem. I also tried signing up and logging into the nukecops.com (for php-nuke help, perhaps they would have known) but again it doesn't work properly
Simple right? Not so fast. I've tried adding the site to trusted, and allowing all cookies. I've tried turning securtiy and privacy settings down and off. I've tried disabling firewall, antivirus, disconnecting my router, clearing cookies and temporary files out (both through IE Internet Options, and manually) and even reformatted TWO times. All to no avail.
Now for the strange part. I recently reformatted (deleted partitions, and reformatted NTFS) my friends computer and using the same process as I did with his, I reformatted mine. I even tried using his disc (with my serial) to see if it was perhaps my XP disc, but obviously it wasn't. His computer can login and keep the cookies correctly, BUT mine cannont (using either disc).
Now I used to be able to login no problems, and with my projected date of site launching less then 1 month away, I would hate to have to push it back. I tried using Monzilla browser and it worked correctly, so this is clearly an IE 6+ and MSN broswer problem.
