What could cause all cookies to suddenly disappear? The computer had not been
turned off. From one hour to the next, sites that require cookies for entry
could no longer be entered. Fortunately, I have a backup of the cookie file,
so re-imported, but naturally, it's not quite up to date. I'd like to avoid
its happening again. NAV did its routine system scan for viruses; but cannot
be sure whether it ran before or after the cookies loss. Also, that scan has
run before without loss of cookies. Also, I noticed that the links history
was gone -- meaning sites I check every day all looked as if they had not
been visited before; could not see the "visited" links from prior visits.
System: XP-pro, 1 gig RAM. The computer is only a month old, so plenty of
hard drive space. Have never had this happen with years of computer use on
W2K, XP-HE and W98SE, using pretty much the same settings and software I'm
using now. Thanks in advance for any suggestions as to settings or programs
that could cause this.
