I like the animations that can be made using Windows Movie Maker, but
because it can only save them in a .wmv file format, it is hard to use them
on a web site (Mac users might have trouble viewing them, and .wmv is also
not considered a standard web file format). Does anyone know of a free and
simple application that can be downloaded to convert these files to another
file format (preferably an Animated GIF)?

I can't remember the exact name of the developer but the one I use is called
"Cheetah". Try Googling for it.
