Well, wireless routers are so cheap, a better solution would be to get
a new router that has wireless capability. The router will probably
not cost any more than a wireless access point. And as for the
desktop, why go wireless? Just locate the router close to the desktop
and hard wire the desktop to one of the router LAN ports. You will
need a wireless PC NIC for the laptop. Most, if not all wireless
routers have at least two hard wired LAN ports.
