It sounds like you might have unwanted formatting associated with your
numbering style. You can check that by applying numbering to your list,
placing your cursor in the first item in the list, and clicking Format -
Paragraph. Then check on the "Line and Page Breaks" tab to see if either
"Keep With Next ΒΆ" or "Page Break Before" is checked. Simply unchecking the
box will fix the problem on a case-by-case basis, but to fix it permanently
will require that you modify the style that is applied to a numbered list.
The way you modify a style depends on which version of Word you're using.
