Converting from Oracle RAW column.

I have a query that needs to return a RAW column and convert it to the
number that is actually stored in it. In TOAD it returns the number, but in
SQLDeveloper or of course vb.net it seems to be returning a Byte array, but
if I try to retun the array elements, the numbers are different. Any
ideas???
