I have Windows XP (service pack 1). I am trying to convert wav or wma files
which I have on my hard drive - copied from purchased CD's - to MP3 format
using Windows Media Player 10.
I right click on the wma file and click on "convert media format". The Plus
Audio Converter comes up. I verify data, click NEXT, and press the "Start
Conversion" button.
Then I get a message that says "0 of 1 file converted" and the status says
Failed.
When I press the "Details" Button, it says "The file cannot be converted
because it uses an unrecognized codec."
What can I do to make this work? Thanks
shirley

Before anything, suggest you upgrade your PC to XP SP2.
Order Windows XP Service Pack 2 on CD (it is FREE).
