| This may/may not help
| As a current PaperPort user, you probably know that, with previous
releases
| of the product, your scanned documents were saved in the proprietary MAX
| file format. This worked well, but thousands of PaperPort users have been
| asking for the ability to save documents in a format that could be more
| easily shared with others who may not own a copy of PaperPort. Responding
| to this request, PaperPort Deluxe 9 now treats PDF as a native file
format.
| All scanned documents can come into PaperPort as PDF (or MAX) without
| having to convert them, and all of PaperPort's editing, annotating and
| desktop operations work on PDF just like they do now for MAX files.

which just gave me an idea :-)
Maybe the original poster can download cutepdf and from paperport, print the
file to cutepdf - just did it and it works a treat. :-) then all's needed
is an ap to convert the pdf to a bmp or tif
