Converting DV to DV-AVI

I have some DV files which were ripped via Kino on Ubuntu. I can play
them on Windows XP if I use VLC. I'd like to be able to play them in
Windows Media Player. DV files ripped via Windows Movie Maker are in
AVI containers. Is there any way to convert the DV files (ripped by
Kino) to DV-AVI?

I've tried ffmpeg, but the resulting AVI file is 40x smaller than the
DV file. I tried winff and it allows you to create DV from DV. The
result was not playable in Windows Media Player. I also used winff to
create an avi and again it was 40x smaller than the DV file.

Any ideas?

========================
Did you try the files in Movie Maker?

If they import Ok...drag them to the
timeline and try saving as follows:

To save as an .avi movie file...
Type...Ctrl+P to open the Save Movie Wizard /
Choose...My Computer /
Next /
Enter a Name and a Save Location /
Next /
Show More Choices /
Other Settings /
Open the drop window and choose...DV-AVI /
Next /
Wait while the movie is saved /
Finish...

I think the Total Video2Dvd is ok!
Total Video2Dvd is an easy-to-use disc authoring and burning software
which includes a powerful video converter engine for DVD that lets you
