Converting CD's to .wav files to use as windows sounds

Can anybody give me guidance in converting a audio CD
file to a wav file so I can change my window startup and
shut down sounds?

Just use WinAMP to open up the CD and go into the preferences and then set
Plugin`s , Output to DISK.. and that will sort it.
