Hello,

I recently purchased a Dell Precison 470 Workstation with dual EM64T Xeon
cpus (All the Media and documentation was lost but that's another story).

The system came pre-installed with Windows XP X64 Prof. edition but I wish
to run the 32bit Edition of Windows XP Prof. Edition, -NOT- the X64
version. The system cover has a legit Windows XP x64 Pro Serial Number.

Can I keep my Windows XP License for use under the 32bit version of
Windows XP?

I tried to install Windows XP Pro (32bit) from a friend's CD but the
installer wouldn't take my legit Windows XP X64 License.

Can I keep my X64 license for the 32bit version of Windows XP if I use a
Dell-Branded Re-installation CD?

Does anyone know what I could do? I wish to avoid buying a full XP Pro
license if possible..

Cheers,

Vince

Licenses are version specific.. you will need to get the full XP 32bit
package complete with license #..

No. If you want to use a 32-bit version of WinXP, you'll need to
purchase one.
