Word 3.0 is an ancient DOS version of Word... are you sure it is a Word
3.0 file? Recent versions of Office do not include a Word for DOS file
converter, and the converter is no longer available for download from
the Microsoft website. But you can download the doswrd32.cnv converter
that was included with Office 97 and earlier versions from Word MVP

and choose "Word (for DOS) converter for Word". As with any conversion
from one file format to another, the results might not be 100% perfect.
