oh how I love this default explorer setting to hide known file
extentions. What is a "Winamp file"? Maybe already MP3, maybe WAV,
maybe something else. Please deactivate the mentioned setting or
see file prperties or stuff like that to tell us, what extetion
the file s have, you want to make MP3 from. I think the easiest
way from WAV to MP3 is CDex, dbPowerAmp or stuff...

There is no such thing as a "Winamp" file. Winamp plays any type of music
file - mp3, wav, wma, etc. - for which it has an input plug-in.
