I would like to convert a subweb to the root web on my
webserver. I would also like to keep the files from the
existing root web and move them to another folder. What
is the safest way to do this. The subweb has a subweb
that is secured. Can this be moved to the root as well?

First publish the root web to the new location.

Next, publish your subweb to the root web.

FrontPage will ask before deleting files on the
destination Web that don't exist in the source Web. If you
want to "merge" two Webs, just say "no" when FrontPage
asks about deleting the "extra" files.

Yikes.

In reading your response I just realized that was how I managed to mess up a website. The previous webmeister had 4 or 5 index pages and a couple of default pages as well which got me terribly confusted. Then I think I wrote the subweb to the rootweb...what a morass of mixed up junk I have now...oh well, the site needed to be remodeled anyway.

I think this is why beer was invented.

Ah another oldtimer - another few years and DOS will be another forgotten language. Wanna buy a copy of Visicalc on an 8' floopy? :-)
