dBpowerAMP with the Real codec seems to work but it takes as long to
convert the file as it is long, i.e., an hour to convert an hour of
audio. I have about 50 hours worth of RM files to convert. Is there any
freeware that will do it faster?

Yup, there is! Here's what to do:

1. Download and install the latest version of WinAmp, if you don't
already have it (www.winamp.com).

2. Download and install Tara's RealAudio WinAmp plugin
(http://winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=22143).

3. Open up WinAmp's preferences, and set the output plugin to NullSoft
Disk Writer.

4. Play the RealAudio file in WinAmp, and enjoy your freshly created
WAV!

Hope this helps!

I still use WinAmp 2.91 with the Enhancer plugin:
http://www.i-adrian.home.ro/enhancer.htm

I have been using this combination for several years. Is there a free
equivalent to Enhancer that will work with the latest WinAmp?

Well, it turns out that Enhancer still works fine with the latest
WinAmp. :-)
