How can one convert the PST file in Outlook 2007 so that it can be imported
from in Outlook 2003 or earlier?

One machine had the trial version of Office 2007 uninstalled and the
original Office 2003 reinstalled. The save 2007 PST file seems unreadable by
the 2003 version.

TIA

To the best of my knowledge, the 2003 and 2007 PST files are compatible.
Don't import the data file, just open it with Outlook (File | Open |
Outlook Data File). Make sure that the read-only attribute is not set.

If you upgraded to Outlook 2003, the .pst file is in the older format. You need to create a new .pst file in the unicode format (personal folders) and copy your existing information into the new format. You can then combine the 2 formats, 2007 and 2003.

The 2007 & 2003 default data files are in identical format, and are usable
in any combination
