HI All,

Here I am having problem with OUTLOOK 2003. Once of the user in my company
is unable to find his old .PST file in which he had couple of emails. We do
not have data backup for this user as he was using POP/SMTP account. However,
according to him, he has got 500-600 MBs of OST file on the system so I want
to convert OST file into PST file. I have found couple of good software on
the Internet but we do not prefer to spend $500 for single user issue.
Someone could give me idea that how would I convert his OST file into PST to
get few MBs of emails.

Your quick response will be much more appreciated.

Thanks,

Does this person still have their Exchange profile? If yes, select
File->Import and Export->To a file->.pst and select the .ost file to export.

Yes, he does have Exchange profile but on the server I cant see any of his
emails as he used to connect with POP/SMTP so all emails were directly going
into his mailbox. I dont know but for some reason he has got .OST file so I
am thinking to get his OST and try converting into PST....
Can you tell me is this the right direction to work out???

Thanks

If he used POP, he wouldn't have an OST. OSTs are Exchange only. PSTs are
used for POP.

There are commecially-available OST to PST converters. Google can find them
for you.

As far as I'm aware, there isn't any free converters. If the data is
important enough, the money spent on the converter will be unimportant.

If you're using an Outlook version prior to 2003, then there is a free
converter. See http://www.xcopy32.com/details.php?file=24
