I want to convert my file system from Fat32 to NTFS, now went I do this, will I loose the data that is on Fat32. I read in KB 307881 that UDF and CDFS are only used with optical media and cannot be converted to NTFS. Does this mean that I cannot burn CDs in the NTFS file system.

You will *not* lose any data on the drive.

No, CDs cannot themselves use the NTFS file system. But that's ok-- you can
still burn CDs. During the burning process, they are written to the CD
using UDF or CDFS automatically. It's not something you need to worry
about. (It happens 'behind the scenes' so to speak.)

However it is always a good idea to back-up important data just in
case.
