want to update server to SQL 2005.Question: Do I need to re-write the code
for my application?

No, that should not be a problem.

You will need to relink to the new server and the new fields.

Note that, as with any software upgrade there may be little
differences you may encounter. Testing your app on the new system
would be a good idea.
