when i download movies i can only download mpg movies. when i download avi
movies there is no movie or picture just the sound. is there anything i can
do to watch an avi movie on my computer.

You need to install the correct codecs for the AVI file.

To find out exactly which codec the AVI file is encoded with, download and
install G-Spot codec identifier:
http://www.headbands.com/gspot/

Once you know which codec you need, then visit the relevant website to
download and install it. Try to avoid codec 'packs', they often install far
too much. The two most common codecs for AVI files are DivX (www.divx.com)
and xViD (www.xvidmovies.com)
