Is there any good freeware to convert MPEG2 videos to WMV? Currently, I
am converting the MPEG2 to XviD (AVI) using Auto Gordion Knot and then
using Windows Movie Maker to convert the AVI to WMV. I would like to cut
out the conversion from MPEG2 to XviD to speed up the process.

I tried a MPEG2 plugin for Windows Movie Maker but it didn't work.

Ideally, I would like a program with the ability to convert a batch of
files since I have lots of them. It's not essential though.

I don't know if it excactly matches your requirements, but I've found
SUPER to be pretty good:

You can select several files to trandform at once, achieving the
batch-like effect you were after.
