Convert millions of jpegs to mpeg

I am backing up images (1 per second) from a security camera, to a
directory on a PC. However, after a couple of days I am having a hard
time accessing such large numbers of files - its not the amount of
data its the number of files that is the problem.

Anyway, I'm looking for some software (not necessarily free) that can
handle such large file counts and convert them into something like an
AVI or MPEG, or at least let me scan through them easily.

Any recommendations appreciated.

Dean

Yes thanks for that - I'm really asking about the file count issue
than just in general how to convert jpegs into mpegs. I am looking for
specific recommendations on software that can handle a million photos
in one windows directory.

I would guess one of the "photo" groups would probably have members that
could help you with that discussion. Try looking in Google Groups for a
photo newsgroup. The issue isn't really a problem or feature of Windows
XP.
