convert duplicate files to hard links?

Is there a duplicate file finder utility that will give you the option of
converting a duplicate file to a hard link? (Would this be a good idea?)
It seems like this would be a good way to save disk space. Often it is
useful for me to have the same file appear at different locations in my
folder tree ... but it would be better not to have the duplicate files
chewing up the disk space.
