i have two computers networked one using windowsXP home
and one pro

is there anyway that i can control one computer from the
other and do simple things like shut it down and view the
screen

the only thing i have found so far is remote desktop
witch is not ideal as the other computer has to grant me
permission and it cannot be used when no one is loged on.

thanks for your help

Try VNC. www.realvnc.com. I've used it to control my
desktop at work, from home. The PC being controlled has
to be on.
