Control update of linked Sharepoint Lists

I have recently moved from Outlook 2003 to Outlook 2007. Lost all of my
links to Sharepoint site contact lists and calendars. After I relinked a
couple of those contact lists, I am now prompted for authentication to those
sites when I start Outlook. It looks like Outlook now automatically updates
those lists. I think in O2003 it didn't update them until I viewed them or
tried to use them.

Is there any way to change this behavior, so it doesn't do these updates
until I try to use the list?
